Lady Gaga Shows Up At Eminem, Jay-Z Detroit Show
Pop star makes appearance at historic hip-hop concert.By Mawuse Ziegbe

The stars definitely came out for Eminem and Jay-Z.
The hip-hop heavyweights brought big-name guests like Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Drake onstage during their two-night Home and Home Tour run at Detroit's Comerica Park. One megastar didn't hit the stage but did show support during the duo's final Motor City show: Lady Gaga.
According to The Detroit News, the pop sensation, who was in town for her own Monster Ball Tour date on Saturday (September 4), checked out the show from a raised platform in the middle of the arena. Decked out in a silver miniskirt and sporting sable-colored locks, the native New Yorker grooved to Jigga and Alicia Keys' smash "Empire State of Mind." Gaga even threw up the Roc-A-Fella diamond when Hov ripped The Blueprint album cut "U Don't Know." Rap-Up.com reports the singer sipped from a plastic cup throughout the show, and took in Jay's set for about an hour before retreating backstage.
There's a good chance that Gaga and Em will cross paths during another major show: the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The hitmakers have corralled the most Moonmen nods, with Gaga landing a record-shattering 13 nominations and Eminem scoring eight. The pop supernova's "Bad Romance" and the chart-topping MC's "Not Afraid" will also face off in the coveted Video of the Year category
After pulling off a slew of all-star guest appearances and shutting things down with two triumphant high-energy D-Town shows, Em will hit the stage at the VMAs, which will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on September 12.

Kanye West Apologizes To Taylor Swift For 2009 VMA Interruption
'I'm sorry, Taylor,' West wrote on Twitter Saturday morning.By Paul Cantor

Kanye West took to his Twitter account Saturday morning (September 4) to readdress the 2009 Video Music Awards, when he fatefully interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.
"I'm sorry, Taylor," he wrote. "We're both artists, and the media and managers are trying to get between us. She deserves the apology more than anyone. Thank you [Twitter co-founders] Biz Stone and Evan Williams for creating a platform where we can communicate directly."
Expounding on the backlash he received, he wrote, "If you Google a--hole my face may very well pop up 2 pages into the search. ... There are people who don't dislike me ... they absolutely hate me. People tweeted that they wish I was dead ... No listen. They wanted me to die, people. I carry that."
Kanye went on to say that the media vilified him. He alluded to his claim during a 2005 NBC telethon for Hurricane Katrina that "George Bush doesn't care about black people," as a point for which the media was looking to pay him back. He noted that in the VMA aftermath, the media played the race card and turned it into an angry black man versus innocent white girl issue.
"Even though the NBC telethon was widely praised y'all didn't think they was just gone let me get away with that did y'all???!!!" he questioned, rhetorically. "The media has successfully diminished the 'receptive' audience of... KANYE WEST. ...taking a 15 second blip the media have successfully painted the image of the 'ANGRY BLACK MAN.' The King Kong theory. With the help of strong will, a lack of empathy, a lil alcohol and extremely distasteful & bad timing ... I became George Bush over night."
Kanye also said that he had a song he'd written for Taylor. Should she not be receptive to that idea, he said he'd perform it for her. "She had nothing to do with my issues with award shows," he wrote. "She had no idea what hit her. She's justa lil girl with dreams like the rest of us. Beyoncé didn't need that. MTV didn't need that and Taylor and her family friends and fans definitely didn't want or need that."
As his tweets continued, in a stream-of-consciousness manner, Kanye compared his life to that of the Wicked Witch of the West in the book and play "Wicked," which is based on the witches from "The Wizard of Oz." "The Wicked witch of the west basically is so convicted to tell her' truth," he wrote, "when she does it she is outcasted by society and turned WICKED."
Kanye said that he returned from the ego-driven fiasco with a greater sense of who he needs to be in life. "When I woke up from the crazy nightmare, I looked in the mirror and said GROW UP KANYE," he wrote. "I'm ready to get out of my own way. The ego is overdone. I take the responsibility for my actions. Yes I was that guy. A 32 year old child. With new found humility ... who am I to run on stage? I would never ever again in a million years do that. Sorry to let you down."

Ke$ha Ready To Face Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga At The VMAs
'It's gonna be hard taking the Biebs down,' the 'Tik Tok' singer tells MTV News about her Best New Artist nom.By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi
Ke$ha

Ke$ha will storm this September's Video Music Awards with four nominations — she picked up three for her infectious breakthrough single "Tik Tok," as well as one for "My First Kiss," her duet with 3Oh!3. But the singer isn't quite sure she'll be able to wrest the Best New Artist Moonman from windswept heartthrob Justin Bieber.
"It's gonna be hard taking the Biebs down," she told MTV News. "It's gonna be hard, but my fans — we can do it!"
Justin Bieber isn't Ke$ha's only stiff competition on September 12; the brash singer is also up for Best Female Video against heavy hitters like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. But she hopes that her fans will party all over the ballot box and sweep her to victory.
"I have no idea! Gaga and Beyoncé and Taylor Swift — everybody in there I respect, so it's kind of like I have no disses to throw," she said. "That's a tough category. ['Tik Tok'] was my first video, so that really is exciting. I had no idea what I was doing. It was my first time making a video, so it's really kind of cool. I'm excited to see if I and a chance, but I think we can take them. Can't we? I'm down to try!"
After she found out about the nominations, she tweeted her excitement, saying, "I don't even know what to say. I'm so grateful and thankful and stunned and excited. I can't even put into words actually how much this means to me ... thank you to every single one of my fans ... I'm f---ing losing my sh--. I'm so stoked!!!!!"
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners from now through September 12.

Chris Brown Melts Down During BET Awards Michael Jackson Tribute
Singer dances flawlessly but is overcome by emotion when time comes to sing.By Rochell Thomas

When Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo and New Edition were performing tributes to Michael Jackson during last year's BET Awards show, Chris Brown was nowhere to be found, even though many felt he was an obvious choice to honor the fallen legend. Brown's assault on Rihanna several months earlier presumably kept him out of the show.
On Sunday night (June 27), Brown finally got his chance to publicly honor the man he idolized -- and while his dancing was flawless, when the time came for him to sing, he simply fell apart.
After being introduced by Jermaine Jackson, Brown beautifully channeled Michael as he danced to "Remember the Time," "Smooth Criminal" and "Billie Jean." Yet when he grabbed a mic to sing "Man in the Mirror," he choked up, visibly weeping.
"I'm gonna make a change for once in my ..." Brown's voice trailed off. He was out of breath and sounded hoarse. Tears stained his cheeks as he paced the stage, holding the microphone by his side. "This ... wind is blowing my ... Who am I to..." He clearly knew the lyrics but they failed to come out.
Brown faded in and out of the song, closing his eyes, grimacing, trying to soldier on. Whether it was the emotion of the moment or the past 16 months, Brown struggled and failed to find his voice, even though the pre-recorded backing vocals played on.
Finally, he gave up, raised a bandaged finger to the sky and fell to his knees as Michael Jackson's voice could be heard saying, "I'm starting with the man in the mirror." The camera cut from Brown to an audience member who clearly uttered "Oh my God," in shock.
The audience loudly sang the words that Brown could not. Their aid seemed to move Brown to rise from his knees and mouth the words along with Jackson's voice, while gesturing along with the mic as tears rolled down his face. In the audience, actress Taraji P. Henson could be seen mouthing, "That's all right baby," as Brown walked offstage to Jermaine Jackson, who moved to console him.
Brown's emotional performance echoed through the rest of the show. When Niecy Nash came onstage to present the Video of the Year award, she said, "When Chris Brown started crying I got choked up."
Backstage, "a lot of folks were getting misty-eyed, understanding that he was overwhelmed with emotion," BET publicist Zabrina Horton said. "Me, personally, I think 'Man in the Mirror' was great for him to do because I'm sure he still feels bad about Rihanna and wants to be forgiven. He has to make that change himself for himself and he knows that."
Later in the show, when accepting the AOL Fandemonium prize, which measures an artist's "online and mobile fan power," Brown spoke briefly.
"I didn't really prepare a speech because I didn't really think I was gonna be backstage," he said. "But bottom line, I couldn't never do this without my fans. Team Breezy, all the support I've been getting from day one.
"I just wanna say one thing,' he concluded. "I let y'all down before but I won't do it again, I promise. I love y'all, good night."

Katy Perry, Russell Brand's Love Story Began At The VMAs
Russ-Kat's backstage interactions were broken down in "The VMAs: Revealed"By Mawuse Ziegbe

MTV Video Music Award nominee and California Gurl Katy Perry has summed up the main reason why fans tune in to the madness every year: "The VMAs are always the best show to watch because anything can happen. And you know us musicians, we're psychos!"
They're also suckers for love. No one can deny that VMAs usually serves up plethora of onscreen antics but for Perry and comedian Russell Brand, the real can't-miss moments happened backstage. The duo are engaged and set to get hitched later this year, but it all began when they snagged each other's attention at the 2008 festivities. In the special "The VMAs: Revealed - Presented by New 5 React Gum," insiders uncover the beginning of their road to matrimony.
Many reports have pegged the start of the couple's relationship to their first encounter on the set of the comedy "Get Him to the Greek." But, more specifically, they met when "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" filmmaker Nick Stoller set up a shoot at the VMAs to score celeb cameos for his Aldous Snow spin-off.
"They wanted hot young female artists to be part of the movie," explained VMA producer Jane Mun. "So, Christina Aguilera was performing, they got her, Pink and Katy Perry." Perry and Brand filmed a lip-lock for the movie and while the scene stayed on the cutting-room floor, the chemistry between the two began to heat up.
"Katy Perry, Oh my god! I was so inspired by Katy Perry's song's message ['I Kissed a Girl'] that I'm currently going through nine Chapsticks a day and my penis has never felt more moisturized," Brand quipped after the singer performed in 2008. Perry definitely got the joke and laughed, "I love him!"
The only problem was that Perry was still entwined with Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy. But when Perry returned to the 2009 VMAs as a single lady, it was on. When it came to orchestrating a grand entrance for returning master of ceremonies Brand, VMA folks thought the pop star could play a key role.
"She's had a huge year," said show executive producer Dave Sirulnick. "So [we thought] let's ask Katy if she would sing [Queen's] 'We Will Rock You.' "
The pop diva apparently rocked more than just the stage, because after flirting their way through rehearsals, producers saw the British funnyman promising to call Perry later on.
They struck up a romance, got engaged by New Year's Eve and when Perry heard the news of her 2010 nominations, she tweeted some sage advice: "I luv the VMA's, u never know what u'll get from em! I got a hubby."

Lady Gaga: Check. Madonna: Check. "Glee" has featured the music of the pop stars to acclaim in its first season. Yet the show has yet to get high-profile singers Madge and Gaga to appear in person on the show. But another diva is about to change that.
On Tuesday (August 10), show creator Ryan Murphy confirmed to Ryan Seacrest that Britney Spears will make an appearance on "Glee." Now, fans are anxious to see what they'll do with the Spears discography in an episode set to air next season.
And the cast seems just as excited as the Gleeks about what's to come. Heather Morris couldn't wait to have Spears on set when MTV News spoke to her at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday.
"I get to do Britney Spears! I'm hearing rumors from other people that she's supposed to be coming ... that'd be so nerve-racking," she said. "I like 'Toxic' the best or the 'Slave' video. It was always her best performance. She's rocking! I don't care what I do."
"I mean I can't really give away songs, but I know we've seen pictures of Lea [Michele] in a sports bra," Jenna Ushkowitz added, confirming online reports that Michele would sing the classic Britney tune " ... Baby One More Time."
"Some old Britney, some new Britney, some Brittany of our Brittany from the Glee club. So it should be funny," Ushkowitz teased of featured songs. "We're really excited. I love Britney Spears."
Fans also want to know whether Matthew Morrison will go all the way and shave his head as rumored for the episode. But the only thing he would confirm is that he couldn't confirm anything.
"All rumors," Morrison told us. "I think you might be surprised. I don't think I'll be performing any [songs]. I might sing a little bit of 'Toxic,' " he shared. "I'm not sure. We haven't really got too far in the script yet, which is why I don't know too much about the head-shaving thing."
Morrison's castmate Amber Reilly is already convinced the episode will be great.
"I can tell you it's going to be a really great episode and you're going to love it," she said. "And they're doing the big hits from Britney."
Which Britney songs do you think are absolutely essential to the "Glee" tribute episode? Tell us in the comments!

'I really feel sorry for everyone who did miss it but it was awesome,' says one fan.By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway

There's no question that Jay-Z and Eminem's Home and Home Tour stops in Detroit were two of the biggest events the city's hip-hop community has ever seen.
On the final night, Em and Hov fans recounted an unforgettable show to MTV News, in which rap titans like Dr. Dre and 50 Cent joined Shady and Jigga on the Comerica Park stage.
Although she "loves Eminem," one D-Town fan gave Hov's set the biggest props. "It had to be Jigga. Coming from underneath, giving a shout-out to [Michael Jackson], it was Jigga," she said.
Another concertgoer said witnessing the hip-hop heavyweights rip up the stage with one of their classic collabos was her favorite moment of the night. "Probably when Eminem and Jay-Z got on the stage together [for 'Renegade']," Lindsay said, describing the show highlight. "That was pretty tight." Fellow audience member Bridget echoed the same sentiment, bellowing, "Renegade!"
Some fans loved when Em made a move that few hip-hop stars have the clout to pull off, and brought out his mentor, Aftermath kingpin and rap pioneer Dr. Dre.
"My favorite part was when Dr. Dre came out," said Jen, who was accompanied by a fellow Doc-loving pal. "We've been ... big [fans] for forever."
As Jay-Z and Em signed off from the Motor City, many fans were amped they were able to witness the historic show firsthand.
"I'm glad I was a part of it," said Dianca. "It was a great concert, it was awesome. I love Jay-Z."
Clutching an Eminem tee and bubbling with post-show energy, Christina was grateful for the opportunity to see the superstar MCs work magic in the D. "It was amazing. I'm glad I didn't miss it," she enthused. "I'm glad I got to be there. I really feel sorry for everyone who did miss it but it was awesome."
Juanita trekked from Jacksonville, Florida but conceded that the Motown show was a singular event.
"I loved everything 'cause I love Jay-Z. I loved the [extra guests] they brought out, I love Dr. Dre. I love everybody, Eminem, everybody!" she said. "Go Detroit, yeah! Only in the D!"

'Love the Way You Lie' Joins List Of Memorable Joseph Kahn Videos
Kahn has directed videos for Britney Spears, Eminem, and Lady Gaga.By James Dinh

After much anticipation, the Joseph Kahn-directed video for Eminem and Rihanna's chart-topping "Love the Way You Lie" debuted Thursday (August 4) on MTV. In the song, Em and Rihanna tell the intense story of a woman who stays with her male counterpart despite his violent habits. The video shows Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan engaging in a relationship that's similarly emotionally destructive.
Kahn, who has worked with everyone from Janet Jackson to Rob Zombie, has a particular directing style that emphasizes CGI special effects and futuristic styling. Here are a few other highlights from his career.
Britney Spears, "Toxic"
In the 2004 clip for Spears' flashy "Toxic," the pop princess played an assassin on a quest to poison her cheating boyfriend. The clip employed eye-popping costumes for Spears — including a stewardess outfit and a glittery bodysuit — and quickly rose to the top of the pop princess' videography. "The plot is pretty nonsensical. It's just fun. [It's like] James Bond flicks and sex," Kahn told MTV News. Years later, the director would collaborate with Spears on the clip for "Womanizer" — in which he slyly referenced their earlier collaboration.
U2, "Elevation"
U2 went on a ride like no other when they joined forces with "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" for the 2001 video promoting "Elevation." A call from an "evil Bono" set the mood for the action-filled video, which features the band on a rescue mission with Angelina Jolie thanks to Kahn inserting members into scenes from the film. With the help of Ms.
Croft, U2 dodges the dangers of the bad Bono, although eventually good and evil come face to face in a battle of stereo and vocal power. But the good guys win out, and the band walks into a calm street that has cars and elephants floating overhead.
Eminem, "Without Me"
For most of Eminem's career, the rapper has played the funny guy in his music videos. His clip for the 2002 hit single "Without Me" went further than mere gags, asserting his ability to poke fun at the controversies surrounding his music. Throughout the video, Em parodies a comic-book hero on a mission to save a young boy from listening to a copy of The Eminem Show, which is labeled with a dreaded 'Parental Advisory' sticker. While on his quest, Em manages to sleep with porn stars, practice yoga and appear on "The Real World."
Enrique Iglesias, "Hero"
Understandably, Enrique Iglesias' music videos have showcased his good looks and suave persona. His 2001 clip featured Jennifer Love Hewitt as the singer's love interest and other half of a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde. The two are on the lam from Mickey Rourke, who heads a rival group of bandits. After some steamy scenes with Hewitt, the pop star is found by Rourke's gang and apparenly killed by them.
Lady Gaga, "LoveGame"
If there's one thing Lady Gaga reps for, it's the busy streets of New York City. Before the days of her music videos doubling as mini-movies, Kahn helped the singer take a journey through the Big Apple's underground in a video that recalls Michael Jackson's also-subway-set "Bad." Accompanied by her crew of dancers, the singer drops it low in a subway station and dances the night away. "I worked with [video director] Joseph Kahn, and he did an amazing job. He didn't just capture the fashion; he captured the artist," Gaga told MTV News.
